Why is “architect” such a toxic title in the software industry? Cause I sure do recoil in horror from it because of bad experiences with thus-titled people.
@ceejbot in a badly organized project, the architect will be the person who is farthest removed from the problem being addressed while also having the most authority over the way programmers have to do their job, which is a combo highly likely to trigger resentment
@ceejbot Possibly because (in my experience) all the folks with that much seniority who have even a milligram of people skills wind up incentivized into management, leaving people who may be very technically skilled but are ... difficult to work with.
Ceejbot's mastodon instance. This is an overprovisioned, personally-run instance running on AWS. I welcome friends to create accounts here. I intend to run it as long as people are using it.
